Program

A committee of local, regional and international members are organizing the event, and internationally recognized keynote speakers/facilitators have agreed to attend the workshop.

The program will be held over two days, including plenary sessions and parallel break-out workshop sessions, which would have multiple topics at the same time, giving participants a choice to attend any one of the workshops. Tentative topics and a program are given below, however, a needs assessment is currently underway, requesting regional physiology and basic science departments what should be the priority of topics for a regional teaching workshop, and subject experts volunteering to facilitate sessions.

Topics

PLENARY SESSIONS
  • Large language models, machine learning and generative AI
  • Flipped classrooms
  • Engaging students in our teaching
PARALLEL WORKSHOPS
  • Designing problems to introduce core curriculum in physiology
  • Small and large group facilitation skills
  • Practical Experiments in Physiology Requiring Minimal Equipment
  • Is technology a substitute for lab practicals?
  • Use of data acquisition systems in laboratories
  • Use of gen AI in assessment by staff and students
